Villa Lugnano is right at the heart of the ‘green heart of Italy’, Umbria – and yet extremely accessible from all sorts of important points.

If travelling by air, Perugia airport is less than half an hour away, while Ancona, Forlì and Florence airports are about 2 hours away, and Pisa 3 hours. Thus you have plenty of choice when selecting your airline and deciding your itinerary!

Important towns such as Assisi (birthplace of St Francis), Perugia (Umbria’s capital), Cortona (famed by the book ‘Under the Tuscan Sun’), San Sepolcro which in its cathedral houses ‘the most beautiful painting in the world’ (Aldous Huxley) – spared by the Allied bombers in WWII – and Gubbio are 30–40 minutes away. Not to mention the attractive walled town of Città di Castello at merely a 15 minute drive, where you can visit the colourful bi-weekly market and see many interesting buildings, churches and museums.

Or for a more natural ambience, visit the Trasimeno lake or the famous Terni waterfalls at just over an hour each.

Famous Renaissance cities like Florence and Siena are a 2+ hour drive, but if you don’t feel like driving, are also well served by trains from local towns. Even Rome can be reached, by car or by train, in just over 3 hours.
